MrPATtastic provides Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) throughout Telford and its surrounding towns.  Established in 2013, MrPATtastic helps small businesses comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 by carrying out inspection and testing on their electrical equipment, a process better known as PAT testing. After working in the PAT industry since 2008, Anthony Grindrod wanted to build a standout brand to align with his already outstanding PAT testing service.  After hours of brainstorming, from Mr Fantastic came MrPATtastic, a Local PAT Superhero keeping businesses electrically safe. The original character may have changed over the years to a much simpler design, but ethos has not, to provide a Portable Appliance Testing service (PAT) that is second to none.  Striving for excellence so that not only are the customer needs met but meaningful partnerships forged.  Passing on electrical safety knowledge along the way and making Telford and its surrounding towns businesses a safer place. Keeping your portable electrical equipment safe in the workplace is so important, the HSE recommends this is carried out by 3 simple steps, user checks, formal visual inspections and combined inspection and tests, also known as Portable Appliance Testing or PAT Testing. The user check is an vital part of maintaining your portable electrical equipment in the workplace, many faults can be found from a user check. These check should be carried out before plugging in and turning on the equipment. It includes the inspection of the plug, the flex, the appliance and making sure the appliance is suitable for the environment and the job. Faults or suspected faults should be reported and logged, Any faulty equipment should be removed from service.  No record is required if no faults are found. The formal visual inspection should only be carried out by a competent person, the results of the formal visual inspection should be recorded. The inspection consists of the user checks together with where possible opening up the plug top and checking the inside for signs of overheating, inspecting the wiring, check with a screwdriver that the core terminations are tight and secure, check the fuse is made to BS1362 and the flex is secure in cord gripper. Equipment failing the inspection should be removed from service. Combined inspection and testing or more commonly known as Portable Appliance Testing or PAT testing should only be carried out by competent person. It includes the formal visual inspection and testing as necessary to ensure the equipment is in a safe condition. The testing may include an earth continuity test at a high or low test current, an insulation resistance test or a protective conductor/touch current measurement and a polarity test. Any faulty equipment should be removed from service. The combined inspection and test should be recorded.
