I recently took my Jaguar into my local Halfords Wolverhampton for an MOT, I've used Halfords with my Jaguar before and have always been really happy with the service provided. I use Halfords for the Jaguar as they advertise servicing jaguars... I booked my car into the local garage and asked if the airbag light on the dashboard could also be investigated. I have to say the abruptness that I received from Jonathan when asking for this was quite shocking, I was belittled and spoke over repeatedly and told "it isn't as simple as clearing the errors you know, there's much more to it than that" very rude and belittling, my wife knows how this works as she;s owned a car for 20 years and isn't a child! Anyway, your engineers proceeded with the MOT. We then received a message that the car was ready for collection, no other information, no phone call, just a message that the car is ready for collection. Upon collecting the car you had failed the MOT on the very thing we asked you to look at, and again my wife was told that this isn't something Halfords can investigate and it needs to go to Jaguar, again my wife asked if they had reset any of the errors as this is common fault on Jaguars, no real reply other than belittling again. She was told, "we can' resolve this fault its out of our control, it needs to go back to Jaguar" My wife asked if the errors had been reset as this is a common fault with Jaguars and again didn't receive a reply. She was then told to get Jaguar to resolve the fault and bring it back and he would pass the MOT and this needed to be within 10 days of the MOT. We took the car to another garage that we know, who did reset the errors and found it to be a faulty airbag module after a very long investigation into the fault, they have sourced the part from Jaguar and will fr the replacement part. Upon calling our local Halfords to provide the update, once again a very rude person answered the phone and despite my wife trying to explain that the car had been booked into a different garage since the MOT, she was interrupted repeatedly and told that the MOT was no longer valid as it had passed the 10 days, my wife asked if you would perform the MOT again and we were told we would need to pay for the MOT again! I fund the rudeness, lack of customer care and service appalling and I see no reason to ever use Halfords ever again for anything. Was she treated this was as she's a woman, would I have been treated the same way I wonder, I find this behaviour shocking in this day and age that my wife can;t take our car to be serviced without being belittled and being rude to, I encourage you to listen to those recorded phone calls! We contacted alternative Halfords garages and asked if they could repair the fault and was told, yes we can investigate and resolve Jaguar faults even with airbag errors... When my wife suggested this to our local garage and explained that this is why we use Halfords as you can service Jaguars, she was told that you just didn't want to do the work! The MOT had ran out now and we would need to pay again for another MOT!! All because you couldn't be bothered to do the work.... if that's the case, why did you accept the job? Why do you say you service jaguars? And why dd you take the job in the 1st place when we made it very clear we needed the light on the dashboard resolving, it won't pass an MOT with an airbag light on will it! What was the point going through the rest of the MOT. If you had just said right from the beginning, we can't or don't want to look at that error because its too difficult for us to resolve, we would have understood and walked away insted of that you have been rude and belittled my wife, caused a delay in getting a road worthy car back to us ad caused us to be out of pocket. Overall the experience provided by halfords and in particular from Jonathan who is the Manager has been truly awful and made what should have been a detailed investigation into a horrible experience for us.
