Shocked to see such a negative comment. I have been using Dave and his team at D M Electric for years to deal with both private and rental properties. They have always been polite and have fixed many electrical faults in a totally professional and timely manor, all to a high standard. I would recommend them to all and will continue to use DM Electric LTD with total confidence.

I can’t understand why someone would put something negative about this company. We recently had them out to do some home improvements. Dave was polite and well mannered, he’s was the type of bloke that would go above and beyond to help us. He turned up on the day we arranged and even gave us a nice courtesy call to let us know he’s on the way. The electrics done to our house were fantastic, it was clear he took pride in his work. Considering he had to reroute cables and drill holes in walls, he made a fantastic job which looks perfect in our eyes. I couldn’t recommend this man enough, in fact I have now to several of our friends and family. I will definitely continue to use DMElectric as we thought they were fab.

DM Electric completed the electrics for the extension of our bungalow. We couldn’t have been happier with the quality of workmanship which was completed in a professional and timely manner. We have used them for our hot tub electrics too and have been more than happy to recommend to our friends who were very grateful for the recommendation and very happy with the works completed.

Edit: DM Electric filed for small claims court, I presented my evidence and the judge threw their case out. If you want someone who is unreliable, doesn't show up when he's supposed to and doesn't have the decency to send a text message to let you know, that tries to sell you things constantly regardless of whether you need them or not and cuts corners on the work he does get around to ‘completing’, Dave McCarthy is your man! We moved into the village in September and despite DM Electric's quote being slightly more expensive, I gave them the work as Dave was in our village (quite literally 5 minutes down the road) and Dave seemed like a nice enough guy. Unfortunately, I was extremely wrong about him and Dave turned out to be an absolute nightmare. I could write several pages of A4 discussing the ins and outs of how DM Electric is a poor company run by dishonest and inconsiderate people, who take short cuts to enhance their profits and then try to charge the earth but I’ll just leave you with some key facts. Dave quoted us for the work ‘he’ would be doing and then sent someone else, without letting us know prior to them turning up on our doorstep. This so-called electrician then spent the entire day wandering around our house, ‘looking’ at things and didn’t touch a thing before leaving for a family emergency. He said this would take an hour but returned 3 hours later. I appreciate these things happen and can’t be avoided and this wouldn’t have been a problem, had he not wasted our time wandering around the house all morning. When he returned from the emergency, he continued to wander around. Both Dave and Heidi assured us he was a qualified electrician and ultimately, said that an unusual switch in our utility caused him to stray away from the work that needed to be done. This doesn’t explain however why he wouldn’t have completed other work on the list that were i other areas of the house, such as fitting a light under our stairs. It seems he wasn’t even capable of installing an additional socket and plugging a light in. Dave assured us that the work would take him 1 – 1.5 days to complete and it took him 11 WEEKS to do it. This was after we would arrange for him to come and he just wouldn’t show up, several times in a row. He wouldn’t even bother to call, email or text to say he wasn’t attending, often leaving us waiting around for him for an entire day. He ignored all calls, texts and emails enquiring about whether he was coming. Eventually, I’d get an email response from Heidi, usually several hours later or the following day to say that Dave was ‘late’, ‘busy’ or ‘tired’ and unable to attend…which I already knew as he hadn’t turned up! Heidi would then say he’ll be round tomorrow or next Monday or whatever and the day would come and go, and Dave still wouldn’t attend. He’d then show up unexpectedly on our door step, supposedly to do the work but wouldn’t know what he had to do. We’d relay AGAIN what needed to be done and he’d say he didn’t have the materials or it as raining and he didn’t want to work outside, often leaving 10-15 minutes later, saying he’d come back tomorrow, next Monday or whatever and never turning up. On one occasion, he said the materials he needed were in his van, parked at his house, 5 minutes down the road but he couldn’t be bothered to go and get them! Heidi then tried to add additional charges for late night and weekend call outs, despite Dave only attending at these times because he’d missed SEVERAL agreed visits! She also tried to charge us twice for work we’d already paid for and charge us in advance of Dave even completing the work. The work Dave did complete wasn’t done as we had agreed and he often cut corners, I assume to save on materials and maximise his profits. He also refused to dispose of old materials as he 'didn't want to make his van dirty' or tried to charge outrageous disposal fees. Do yourself a favour and find an electrician who you can rely on to turn up and complete the work, as agreed, to a good standard without trying to tack on additional hidden charges!
