Our service is offered in every kind of establishment from pubs, clubs and cafes to rented property, holiday lets, care/residential/assisted living homes, shops, retail outlets, B&Bs, hotels, public buildings, commercial/industrial premises and many more!‍PAT (or Portable Appliance Testing) is the electrical safety testing of portable electrical equipment. Testing comprises two parts – 1) a visual inspection to ensure the plug, cabling and housing is undamaged and 2) a series of electrical tests to ensure the user is kept safe from electric shock. When a test is completed a sticker is placed on the appliance indicating a pass or fail. Any appliances that fail and cannot be repaired will be recorded, removed from use immediately and given to the duty holder. Most intervals are 12 months however, they can be shorter or longer depending on your own risk assessment.We are a proud member of the Portable Appliance Testing Trade Association (PATTA) whose primary aim is to raise standards throughout the PAT testing industry. This is achieved by improving support, training and qualifications and members must adhere to their working standards at all times. This includes, but is not limited to, the inspector being competent, using suitable PAT testing equipment and conducting inspecting and testing in line with the objectives of the current IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical equipment. More information can be found at: www.patta.co.uk‍ Whilst PAT testing in itself is not a legal requirement, it is the most effective way to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 4(2) that states ‘as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger’. Similarly, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 places a duty of care upon employers and employees to ensure the safety of all persons using work premises. PAT testing is the most effective way to show you are meeting your legal obligations and that you have a maintenance regime in place. Often, insurance companies will require businesses to conduct annual PAT testing which, if not completed, may void an insurance claim. Many insurance companies will offer a discount if PAT testing has been completed.AM PAT Testing uses high-end equipment to conduct electrical testing which is calibrated regularly to ensure the results remain accurate. We provide an honest and reliable service where all appliances are thoroughly checked, regardless of how long that takes. We conduct our testing strictly in line with the ‘Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment’ and will NEVER simply label an appliance without a thorough visual and electrical test. We were very pleased with the very high quality of service received from Andy at AM PAT Testing. We were able to book our annual pat testing check easily without any fuss and he came round to do the work within a week. This is the first time I have used AM PAT Testing and would have no hesitation is recommending them. Andy conducted in-house testing at my offices in Taunton as well as over 80 staff's equipment where they are working from home. Andy was professional and courteous, liaising with staff before visiting their home and provided a detailed report on the test result and replaced and items that failed.
